The City of Fort St. John has been celebrating Canada Day since June 25 with a variety of events.

Today, the City encourages residents to celebrate being Canadian by playing “Table Top Road Hockey” with your friends. They invite people to share where you’re playing by email at recreation@fortstjohn.ca for a possibility of being surprised by some special guests and prizes. Their socially distances version hockey rules are available HERE

The Canadian Scavenger Hunt is also set up from today until July 2 at the Fish Creek Community Forest. Explore the forest and find Canadian themed images, write them down, and unscramble the puzzle to be entered to win. The prize sheet is available HERE

On Tuesday, June 30, the Fort St. John Facebook page will host a Canadian book reading. They’ll also be posting some Canada Day crafts for kids.

After you’re done the crafts, there will be drive-in movies in the parking lots at the North Peace Arena and Kids Arena Fieldhouse. There will be 3 movie screenings of "The Mask" starting at 5 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. The event is free, but you must reserve your tickets at energetictickets.ca. On July 1, "Horton Hears a Who" will play at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

On Canaday Day, the City will host a virtual celebration at 12 p.m. at several locations, including the City of Fort St. John Facebook page and YouTube channel. The program includes a speech from Mayor, greetings from dignitaries and First Nation guests, National Anthem performed by Bailey and Leah Mayes, entertainment with local musician performances, a "Welcome to Canada" segment with S.U.C.C.E.S.S and more.
