Following the successful commencement of Phase 1 last year, the City of Grande Prairie is set to begin Phase 2 of the 116 Avenue construction project. This next phase will start on May 27, 2024, focusing on the stretch between 102 Street and 100 Street, with completion aimed for September 2024.

Scope of Work:

·Underground storm replacements

·Geometric improvements

·Traffic signal upgrades at 102 St & 116 Ave

·Roadway asphalt milling

·Full depth reclamation

·Paving and line marking

Traffic and Transit Impact:

·Single lane alternating traffic will be in place on 116 Avenue throughout the construction period, with temporary closures at the intersections of 102 Street & 116 Avenue and 100 Street & 116 Avenue.

·Transit routes 4, 5, 7, and 8 will be affected, with stops relocated and rerouting implemented as needed. Pedestrian detours will guide foot traffic safely around the work zones.

Commuters are strongly urged to follow all posted signs and detours to navigate the area safely and efficiently. The City appreciates the community's cooperation and patience as we continue to improve our roadway infrastructure for the safety and benefit of all residents and visitors.
