The 12th annual Growing the North Conference will be going virtual this year from February 16th to 18th.

The conference was started 12 years ago by Walter Paszkowski who was working with the County of Grande Prairie at the time.  Paszkowski felt that it would be a great opportunity to bring some high-level speakers to the area to provide information to residents and various municipalities in the region to share ideas, concerns and solutions.

The tradition has continued to grow with nine different organizations helping put the conference together.

With this year’s event going virtual it gives the conference some different options to expand. Instead of the normal 2 full day event, it will stretch out to be three half days.

The event is geared towards business people and people that work in local municipalities and is designed for those attending to take information back to their communities.

This year, there are many different topics including indigenous relations.

The key note speaker will be Todd Hirsch, from ATB (Financial Economist/Futurist, kicking the whole thing off the first day on February 16.

If you would like to sign up for the event, call the GP Chamber at 780-532-5340.
