A fire advisory has been put in place for the Grande Prairie Forest Area as the wildfire danger remains high.

Alberta Wildfire warns that gusty wind can cause extreme fire behavior and allow fire to grow rapidly. Residents and visitors to the Grande Prairie Forest Area are urged to be extra cautious with fire at this time.

Under the advisory, existing fire permits are still valid; new permits will be issued only for essential burning and on a case-by-case basis.

Other than campfires, any burning with a valid permit is prohibited.
