On Sept. 8, shortly before 11 p.m., Jasper RCMP responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 16, approximately 6 km west of Jasper.

Preliminary investigation reveals an eastbound sedan, while passing other vehicles, collided head on with a westbound pick-up truck.

The lone 21-year-old driver of the sedan, of Beaumont, was declared deceased on scene. The two occupants of the pick-up truck, a 30-year-old male driver, and 29-year-old female passenger, both of Grande Prairie, were transported to hospital and released with minor injuries. 

Emergency crews cleared from the highway this morning around 8 a.m.

An RCMP Collision Analyst was engaged and is assisting with this investigation. Jasper RCMP investigation is ongoing. Police have been in contact with next of kin.

No other updates are anticipated.
