The Grande Prairie RCMP have charged two people, and seized drugs and weapons, following a traffic stop earlier this month.

On Apr. 21, 2020, shortly after midnight, Grande Prairie RCMP were conducting patrols in the community of Clairmont, where two vehicles were observed to be parked. Police conducted traffic stops with both vehicles. Further investigation led police to arrest both the female driver and male passenger of one vehicle.

A search following arrest resulted in police locating and seizing a large bowie knife, a sawed off .22 calibre rifle, and a container holding a small amount of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, and what appeared to be crack cocaine.

Bruce Tronsgard (41) and Melissa Healey (35), both of Clairmont, have each been charged with 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Tronsgard has been charged with 14 additional offences, including the following:
Careless use of a firearm
Carrying a concealed weapon
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Possession of weapons contrary to an order
Fail to comply with a release order

Tronsgard is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on May 11, 2020, and Healey is set to appear on July 3, 2020.
