Nominations are open for the Alberta Trades Hall of Fame.

"The Alberta Trades Hall of Fame recognizes and honours people who've demonstrated extraordinary dedication and commitment to their trade, and who've advanced apprenticeship and industry training in Alberta." Alberta

Albertans can nominate someone who they believe should be recognized for their contributions to the skilled trades and apprenticeship education until March 25, 2020. The form can be found at alberta.ca.

Premier Jason Kenney comments on the Hall of Fame, “We need to send the message that trades make a huge contribution to our prosperity. Our province has literally been built by brilliant tradespeople and it is past time that we begin to honour their commitment to excellence. It’s also critical that we send a message to young Albertans that a trade certificate has every bit as much value as a university degree.”

The Ministry of Advanced Education is responsible for the Hall of Fame.

Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Advanced Education, says, “The skilled trades are a foundational part of Alberta’s economy. I am pleased to open nominations for the first-ever Alberta Trades Hall of Fame. These awards will help celebrate the skilled trades professions and honour Albertans who work everyday to support the growth and success of skilled trades and apprenticeship across the province.”
