At approximately 8:27 a.m. on Sunday May 31, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at McGovern’s RV and Marine at 14525-100 Street in Clairmont. The first arriving unit reported fire through the roof of the service bay area east of the main showroom with several RVs also on fire. Aerial apparatus were used initially to knock down the body of the fire from a safe distance due to a large volume of propane cylinders exploding.

Regional Fire Service Stations from Clairmont, Sexsmith, Dunes and Wembley are all currently on scene with approximately 30 personnel. The fire is currently being contained to the service bay area. Fire personnel are working diligently to keep the fire out of the showroom.

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service will be on scene for several hours ensuring complete fire extinguishment. The public is asked to avoid the service road adjacent to the scene as there are several fire trucks and water supply lines laid out from the road into the McGovern’s and ESSO bulk station yards. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the County Fire Marshal is on scene.

No injuries have been reported.
