On Oct. 4, 2019 Spirit River RCMP received a call of bullet holes in a residence on a rural property near Spirit River.

After further investigation, it is believed that the bullet holes are a result of hunters shooting at wild game in the area. Alberta RCMP would like to remind hunters and citizens of the importance of firearm safety.

Hunters are reminded to always be aware of the direction that any firearm is being pointed and to not discharge a weapon within 183 m (200 Yards) of any occupied building. In addition, to not discharge any firearm along or across any highway and to not hunt any wildlife or discharge a firearm one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise. Do not hunt if you are impaired by alcohol or drugs.
