The Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau is still accepting nominations for the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Awards. The Awards recognize one individual and one company/corporation in the Grande Prairie region for outstanding contributions to the community through their support & acts of volunteerism in the non-profit sector and/or community within the last twelve months.

“We want to recognize the impact of the shorter term volunteers,” says Carol-Anne Pasemko, Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau, “there are other awards for recognition of a lifetime of involvement, but many volunteers appear out of nowhere and make a contribution that significantly benefits their chosen organizations. Those are the people and companies that we want to recognize with these awards.”

For both awards the contributions for which they are being nominated must have occurred between November 2018 and October 2019. These could be a single project that had made a significant impact on the operations of a non-profit; and/or continuous long term dedication to an organization generally indicated by more than 100 hours of volunteering for an individual in the timeframe or a significant number of man-hours combined with a high percentage of employee involvement, and having a volunteer policy in place in the case of a corporate nominee. The overall community benefit of their contribution demonstrates an ongoing commitment to volunteerism, the organization(s) and the broader community.
