The Town of High Level shared that at 10 am today, "the mandatory evacuation order for High Level, the surrounding areas of Mackenzie County and the community of Bushe River will be lifted and people will be allowed back into their homes."

They "look forward to seeing those folks back home in the High Level, Mackenzie County and Dene Tha’ area."

Mackenzie County says that, "Residents who live in the area east of Blues Creek, north of Highway 697, east of Blue Hills Road (Range Road 180) including residents along Blue Hills Road and south of Township Road 1030, may return home if they choose. Officials from Mackenzie County and Alberta Wildfire have determined the area is relatively safe from the fire. This could change if the weather changes."

After lunch today, the reception centres will not be serving evacuees being allowed back to their homes. Receptions centres across the provihce will focus on those still away from home.

The County also adivses, "If you decide to return, please ensure you have a full tank of gas and supplies to last you two to three days. You can expect the smoke to be thick for the next few days and weeks, and ash may continue to fall."

The Town of High Level wishes to extend their deepest thanks "to the reception centre staff and the towns that hosted them, for taking care of [their] family during this time.

Residents who decide to return will be on an 8-hour evacuation alert for the near future.
