At approximately 9:40 p.m. Saturday evening, the Beaverlodge, Hythe and Wembley fire departments responded to a reported structure fire near Township Road 710 and Range Road 123 in the Rio Grande District.

Upon arrival, crews found an active fire coming out of the chimney. The responding departments quickly extinguished the fire and contained it to the chimney. There was some damage to the chimney as a result of the fire.

“Make sure a certified chimney sweep inspects your wood burning fire place chimney annually, and sweeps and repairs it whenever needed. Your sweep may have other maintenance recommendations depending on how you use your fireplace or stove.” said Regional Fire Service Deputy Chief Bart Johnson.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.

The County Regional Fire Service’s Fire Marshall has completed his investigation.
