On Dec. 16 at 3:00am, a Fort St. John frontline officer was conducting proactive patrols when he observed a dark coloured car traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of 98th Street and 110th Avenue in Fort St. John.

The driver was making sudden turns without signaling and failing to stop for stop signs. The officer initiated a traffic stop but the driver attempted to evade, only coming to a stop after backing into a residence.

The officer arrested the driver and incidental to arrest located what appeared to be stolen items inside the vehicle. They noted the odour of liquor from the driver’s breath and entered an impaired investigation during which it was determined the driver was prohibited from driving Canada wide.

The driver remains in police custody and is waiting to attend court.
