The Grande Prairie Fire Department reminds residents that despite the wet weather, the Fire Ban remains in full effect.

The Fire Ban is citywide, encompassing all fire pit areas, including those on public lands and campsites. The risk of wildfire remains high, and adhering to the ban is essential for the safety of our community and natural surroundings.

"The recent rains, while welcome, do not offset the prolonged period of dry conditions that have heightened the fire risk,” said Acting Fire Chief Mike Anderson. “We need everyone's commitment to follow these restrictions to protect our community."

For detailed information on what is and isn’t permitted under the Fire Ban, please refer to albertafirebans.ca. Everyone has a role to play to ensure a safe and fire-free holiday weekend.

Negligence or willful non-compliance may result in up to $10,000 per day administrative penalties under authority of the Alberta Safety Codes Act (Part 5.1 – Administrative Penalties).
