Catharine Kendall is the owner of Magenta Mare Consulting, a grassroots community development consulting firm. Their work ranges from coordinating community music events to addressing youth gang prevention. Catharine is also the Executive Director and co-founder of Connaught Youth Centre Society in Prince George. Connaught Youth Centre provides programs for vulnerable children, youth and families. Catharine is passionate about serving vulnerable youth and has been a foster parent for over a decade. She is very passionate about ending violence against women and has been a Director of We Can BC, a provincial campaign to end violence against women, for 10 years. 

Catharine was born in Ontario and was raised in New Brunswick. She is comfortable in the city or on the farm, and is very active in local and regional agriculture in north central BC. Catharine has been the Vice President of Eaglet Lake Farmers’ Institute for 11 years, and created West Hemp Co-op with numerous hemp growers across the province. She is active as Director of Local Food Prince George, a non-profit aiming to create a Prince George Food Charter, and to educate community members about food insecurity, buying local and growing more local food.

Beyond Prince George, and within the electoral district of Prince George—Peace River—Northern Rockies, Catharine has worked in the community of Blueberry River and has seen first-hand the ill effects of the oil and gas industry when the entire community of Blueberry River was moved due to sour gas well leaks. 

Catharine is driven to bring diverse community members together on issues, and fight for what is right for the big picture, the future of the planet and for our children and all species.

Catharine resides east of Prince George near Giscome with her six awesome, active children. Together, they are raising a herd of therapeutic horses, dairy goats, laying hens, doves, dogs and a cat.
