A Canadian missionary couple living in Belize are feeling grateful today, as what was predicted to be a hurricane downgraded into a tropical storm last night.

Annie and Kent Neufeld work with Commission To Every Nation. Yesterday they were asking people to pray as the storm approached.

The National Hurricane Center was warning of the approaching Hurricane Nana, which thankfully never arrived.

Just after midnight the country still experienced a storm with winds gusting up to 120 km/h, with rain.

In an email update, Annie says, "Thanks for your prayers and support. We want to thank all of those who prayed and ask for continued prayer for those in the hurricane's path."

The storm is over Guatemala as of Thursday afternoon.

Annie says, "It sounds like it has lost strength and is now classified as a tropical storm so we are hoping that no one will be severely affected."
