The Town of Beaverlodge public works will be flushing the water lines in certain areas of town today (June 8) from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Affected residents will be hand-delivered notifications. For a map, click HERE.

They say the agent to be used is a highly concentrated chlorine solution that is not safe for drinking or washing. After the flushing is complete, showering will be safe, but it must be boiled before using it for cooking.

Since it will be at least 48 hours for the water to be safe for consumption, it is recommended that affected residents have drinking water available for that time period.

Flushing procedure:

  1. Flush lines with chlorine agent
  2. Flush lines with potable water
  3. Water sample analysis with 24-hour turn-around
  4. Residents may flush their own lines and resume regular use if analysis shows acceptable levels
  5. Flush lines if analysis does not show acceptable levels

They will continue to flush the lines and get samples tested until the water is safe for consumption.
