The Rotary Club of Grande Prairie Dream Home Lottery final draws were Friday evening April 24. Over 2.4 thousand people watched it livestream on Facebook as the COVID-19 pandemic meant it could be open to the public.

The winner of the Dream Home was Patti Avery of Clairmont. In the pics are winner Patti, and partner Riley and 4 month old baby Julia. Patti is an accountant currently on mat leave. Riley worked for Fullbore Directional Drilling and was recently laid off. Baby Julia had her 4 month immunizations today and was not happy to be woken up at such an hour and dragged out to their new home. They currently rent in Clairmont and planned to go home and start packing….they’re moving in! The couple is from Newfoundland and has lived in the GP area for about 2 years.

The Cash Jackpot™ 50-50 – Winners is Oluwadamilar “Larry” Ayanleke of Grande Prairie. In the pics are also his wife and kids – Larry, Anu, Eri & Layomi. Larry is an operator for CNRL. The family is originally from Nigeria and this is the FIRST lottery ticket they ever bought in Canada. Larry was studying when called and his wife was making dinner, when they got the voicemail they thought it was a hoax call. They are thrilled….plan to pay of some debt and put money away for their children’s education. Their take of the jackpot was $235,020.

Kevin Hilgers is Raffle Manager and says it was a magical evening. “With so much uncertainty in the air from the COVID-19 outbreak, we changed a few lives here so positively. We also made a dramatic impact on the region with the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie Rapid Relief Fund – putting just over $270,000 into food banks in northwest Alberta. Rotarians, the Dream Home committee and the entire region can feel very, very proud of this. That is unprecedented”
