Around 10:54 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, The Beaverlodge and Wembley Fire Departments, County Regional Fire Service Dunes Station, and Grande Prairie Technical Search and Rescue were dispatched to a report of a vehicle over an embankment in the Red Willow River valley near Halcourt.

Upon arrival, the vehicle could not be immediately located near any roadway. Grande Prairie Technical Search and Rescue was called to help locate the vehicle and assist with the embankment rescue. The vehicle was located shortly after arrival in the area by emergency services in a remote location off a farm field approximately 40 meters down a sharp drop off towards the Red Willow River.

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service and Grande Prairie Technical Search and Rescue deployed rope rescue technicians and specialized equipment to assist the Beaverlodge and Wembley Fire Departments with the patient extrication from the vehicle and to transport the patient up the embankment to an awaiting ambulance.

“The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service works seamlessly across the region with our municipal fire service partners and other first responder agencies to deliver high quality emergency services.
