Alberta Health Service’s (AHS) mobile Screen Test program will be coming to Spirit River Oct. 5-10.

Women ages 50-74 — the group most at risk of developing breast cancer — will have local access to mammography services.

According to AHS, Screen Test is improving access to cancer screening for hundreds of women in northern Alberta communities where mammography is not readily available.

AHS says that a mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer. Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival.

The trailer will be at the Central Peace Health Complex (5010 45 Ave.)

Due to COVID-19 delaying the Screen Test schedule, they are asking Silver Valley clients to book their mammogram at the Spirit River clinic this year.

Call Screen Test to book or change your appointment (toll-free) 1-800-667-0604.

The Screen Test trailer will be in Manning Oct. 13-15, Hythe Oct. 19-21, McLennan Oct. 22-24, and High Prairie Oct. 31-Nov 7.
