UPDATE:

At approximately 10:15 p.m., Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council issued a mandatory evacuation order for the Halmet of Little Buffalo and have been directed to several evacuation zones.

Residents of Little Buffalo are asked to follow the directions of emergency responders and are reminded not to take cut lines or back roads to evacuate as to ensure your safety should the fires change directions and block off back roads or cutlines.

RCMP and other Emergency Responders are currently going door to door to notify residents of the evacuation.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., in the area of Little Buffalo, Peace Regional RCMP were notified of a fire growing rapidly due to high winds and was putting the community of Little Buffalo in immediate risk.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., RCMP were notified that the fire had jumped the highway and residents of Little Buffalo have no access in the direction of Peace River and must evacuate toward Red Earth Creek if they need to leave.

RCMP, Fire and other support services are en route and already on scene and urge residents of Little Buffalo to follow directions of first responders and Emergency Management employees.
