Plans for a television series based on the gospel music industry are moving ahead with the help of Kirk Franklin.

Franklin, a gospel legend is working to help bring the show Kingdom Business to life.

The show will allow viewers a look behind the curtain at the events taking place every day in the gospel music industry specifically, Deadline reports.

DeVon Franklin, producer of the film Breakthrough, celebrated the show's announcement on social media.

"Can’t wait for y’all to see this!," the producer shared.

The series is being developed by NBC and produced by DeVon's Franklin Entertainment, Kirk Franklin and Fo Yo Soul Entertainment, Holly Carter’s Relevé Entertainment, Michael Van Dyck’s Inspired Entertainment, and Universal TV.

Writers for the series include John Sakmar and Kerry Lenhart ("Reign").

"Kingdom Business is a behind-the-scenes look into the world of the gospel music industry and all of the conflict and secrets that come with money, fame and success," DeVon wrote.

Kirk Franklin echoed DeVon's excitement with a similar post, which he captioned: "grateful."

DeVon and Kirk Franklin are collaborating on another project together as well, a biographical film on the life of Kirk Franklin.

"I told y'all we about to change the game," DeVon shared online in July 2019. Kirk was also featured in the video announcement.

"This brother has allowed me to produce a movie about his life," DeVon says, referring to the multi-platinum artist.

Kirk's story will reportedly be told in the movie from childhood to "his meteoric rise to fame as he changes the face of gospel music and battles his demons in the process."

The artist has been considered a pioneer of the gospel music genre since his career began in 1993 with his album Kirk Franklin & The Family selling more than one million copies. His most recent album, Long Live Love, has become the first album to be ranked in the number one spot across all five gospel charts on Billboard.
