The daughter of a church deacon who was killed by a gunman while serving communion says that she has already forgiven the killer.

Anton “Tony” Wallace, 64, was one of two church members killed by a gunman on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, near Fort Worth, Texas. Wallace was a deacon and a lifelong member of the church. He was also a husband, father, grandfather and registered nurse.

His daughter, Tiffany Wallace, says that he had just finished serving communion when a man she had never seen before approached him, according to NBC News.

Tiffany says she checked on her children to make sure they were safe. Then, she ran to her dad.

“I ran toward my dad and the last thing I remember is him asking for oxygen, and I was just holding him, telling him I loved him and that he was going to make it,” Tiffany says.

Tiffany says that Tony "was amazing. He was a godly person, and even when we talked about going to heaven he always said, 'I’m always prepared.' But you never thought this would happen.”

Despite witnessing her father's death, Tiffany says she has chosen to forgive the killer.

“I forgive him [the gunman], and that’s the hardest thing to say,” she says.

“He is a hero to me,” she says.

“I’m just glad everybody’s OK. I know my dad is up there with his sister, his parents, in a wonderful place. Not in pain anymore … He’s just in peace now. I know he’s in good hands.”
