Around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, Hinton RCMP responded to a report of a firearm being discharged in a rural area near the WildHay River Provincial Recreation area.  

Officers responded and searched the area for several hours but the suspect of the alleged firearm discharge was not located. No one was physically injured in this incident. 

The male suspect is described as: 

  • Approximately 6’ tall 
  • Large abdomen 
  • Approximately 240 lbs 
  • Caucasian 
  • No facial hair 
  • Short, light coloured blonde hair 

Possibly wearing: 

  • Either rolled up purple short sleeve tight shirt or t-shirt 
  • Wearing white shorts, possibly khakis or surf shorts 

Possibly driving: 

  • a side-by-side UTV with a yellow hood up 

The investigation continues and the Hinton RCMP are asking anyone who was in the area of WildHay River Provincial Recreation area, on May 23, 2021, at approximately 2:30 p.m., that may have seen an adult male with a firearm matching the description below to contact the Hinton RCMP at 780-865-2455, or your local police.
