The County of Grande Prairie has issued a fire advisory for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley.

The advisory is in effect due to unseasonably dry winter weather conditions and aligns with the fire advisory issued by Alberta Wildfire for the Grande Prairie Forest Area. The County will not be issuing any new permits until conditions improve.

While existing fire permits are still valid, any burning without a valid fire permit, other than a campfire, is prohibited.

Those who must burn should follow permit guidelines and safe burning practices, including always remaining on site until burning is complete.

As a reminder, burning is never permitted when winds reach, or are forecasted to reach, 12 kilometres per hour or higher.

The County will continue to monitor weather conditions. Any updates will be posted on our website

For safe burning practices, visit the Fire Services page or contact Regional Fire Service at 780-532-9727.
