On July 30, 2021 at approximately 8:20 a.m., a Grande Prairie RCMP rural officer was conducting patrols in Bezanson Alta. when he observed a vehicle make a U-turn after seeing police. The same vehicle and driver had allegedly fled from the officer on a previous occasion.  The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop however the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was then observed going onto a rural property. Police set up containment on the property and eventually located and arrested the suspect who was attempting to leave the property on foot.

Officers located the suspect vehicle which was determined to have been stolen from Fairview, Alta. in May, 2021. Further investigation led police to obtain a search warrant for the property which resulted in the seizure of six firearms (one stolen), three BB guns, a compound bow and approximately 1057 rounds of ammunition.  

Dennis Ford (48) of Grande Prairie County, Alta. has been charged with the following:

·Fail to stop for peace officer

·Possession of stolen property under $5,000 x 2

·Unlawful possession of firearm x 6

·Careless storage of a firearm

·Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm

·Fail to comply with release order x 12

Following a judicial hearing Ford was remanded into custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Aug 4, 2021.
