Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) have arrested a male wanted on a Canada wide warrant.

On July 13, 2023 at approximately 7:20 p.m. officers with CRU located a male who was wanted on a Canada wide warrant for violating conditions of his Federal parole. Prior to being able to place him under arrest, the male fled from police in a vehicle. Due to public safety concerns, police did not pursue.

On July 14 at approximately 8:45 p.m. CRU located the same vehicle and male parked in the back alley of a residence in the area of 98 Street and 111 Avenue. In an attempt to escape, the vehicle rammed a police truck several times before eventually becoming stuck. The male then discharged a can of bear spray at police multiple times, striking several officers. The male fled on foot but was arrested and taken into custody shortly after.

Two officers were treated at the scene for minor physical injuries sustained during the incident. The male was also treated at the scene for minor physical injuries.

Jamison Hudgins (35), a resident of Grande Prairie was charged with:

·Flight from police x 2

·Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

·Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·Assaulting a peace officer with a weapon x 5

·Resisting arrest

Following a judicial hearing Hudgins was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice Grande Prairie on July 24, 2023.
