Dr. Modupe Omole is a new obstetrician and gynecologist working out of the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital.

“I would like to welcome Dr. Modupe Omole and her family to Grande Prairie,” says Tyler Shandro, Minister of Health. “Helping ensure women have access to the health services they need close to home is always important. This is especially true for growing families in northern Alberta. With 1,700 babies born in Grande Prairie last year, there is no doubt Dr. Omole’s skills will be put to very good use.”

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Dr. Omole to the community,” adds Dr. James Pope, QEII Hospital Facility Medical Director for Alberta Health Services (AHS). “She’s a great addition to our local care team and will help increase our residents’ access to obstetrics and gynecology care, and provide more support to our current physicians.”

Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Omole completed her medical training at the University of Ibadan, followed by a medical residency at the Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pennsylvania. She joins four other OB/GYN specialists currently practising in the city.

Dr. Omole moved here in December with her husband (who is also a physician), son and daughter. “My husband enjoys photography and table tennis,” she says. “My son loves sports, particularly soccer and swimming. My daughter loves to do crafts and enjoys tennis.”

Dr. Christa Delacruz, Zone Clinical Department Facility Chief for AHS at the QEII, says she is happy to have Dr. Omole join the local medical community.

“We have a young, growing community and her skills will help provide timely access to obstetrical services for Grande Prairie residents,” says Dr. Delacruz.
