The search for a new Library Director at GPPL has come to an end. Deborah Cryderman has been chosen by the Grande Prairie Public Library Board as the successful candidate. “Deb brings years of library experience with an energy and enthusiasm that will build on the excellent work done by Maureen Curry,” says Mark Evans, Board Chair. “She’s an excellent fit for GPPL and we look forward to working with her.”

Cryderman comes to GPPL from the Camrose Public Library where she has been the Director for seven years. Her career has spanned libraries in communities of varying sizes and has also included volunteer work with the Library Association of Alberta and the Alberta Library Conference. She has a Masters in Information & Library Studies from the University of Alberta.

When asked what she hopes to accomplish at GPPL, Cryderman explains, “Libraries provide creativity and critical thinking that is needed now more than ever. I hope we can inspire the community and attract people with varied backgrounds, passions, and interests to take part in the democratic culture of the library. I can’t wait to get started with the team at GPPL.” Her first day will be November 19.
