The Grande Prairie Catholic School District (GPCSD) is preparing for multiple re-entry possibilities for the 2020/21 school year.

In the fall, students will work in small cohorts (single class or grade) to minimize risk while practicing social distancing and routine hand washing and sanitization. Cleaning will also be done throughout the day.

The High Schools will be a single cohort and mask-wearing will be encouraged, but not mandatory. Students won’t be allowed to leave the school and anyone who exhibits symptoms will be sent home.

Bussing will be running, with students practicing social distance while on the bus, and parents will need to complete a mandatory health questionnaire before placing their child on the bus. Plans are being made for students who require additional support entering and exiting the bus. Masks will not mandatory.

The current plan for entering the school is a “hold and secure” format, where the doors will be locked to the general public. Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten parents will be able to enter the school on their school days and will be required to complete a health questionnaire before entering the building. All other parents and visitors will be required to make an appointment and state a specific reason for entering the building.

Celtic Sports Academy will still operate in the Fall. They are waiting for recommendations from the province and Alberta High School Athletics Association for additional extra-curricular sports activities. Currently, any wind-based Band classes and some choral courses may be cancelled or delayed. Physical Education classes will be altered.
