From Monday, November 5 to Thursday, November 8, the City of Grande Prairie is hosting Rent Smart Certification workshops.

The certification workshops help prepare potential tenants to apply for housing; gives them the skills and knowledge to be great tenants; and provides education on tenant rights and responsibilities. It aims to build knowledge, confidence and skills so people can make better decisions about rental housing. Having a Rent Smart Certification demonstrates to landlords that applicants care about being good tenants.

The training is open for all interested members of the public and is free of charge. Sessions are scheduled for November 5, 6, 7 and 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Community Social Development office (10030 102 Avenue). Beverages and snacks will be provided.

Attendance at each session is required to receive the full certification. Participants who complete the training will receive a Rent Smart Certificate that can act as a reference when applying for rental housing.
