UPDATE:

On July 12, 2023, at 1:57 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP and Emergency Services attended a collision on Resources Road South of Township Road 704A.

Preliminary investigation indicates a dump truck with a trailer was travelling south bound on Resources Road when it swerved to avoid a moose. A pickup truck travelling north bound was struck by dump truck trailer causing it to swerve into the ditch, rolling onto its roof. The dump truck also ended up swerving into the ditch.

The 40-year-old driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. The driver of the dump truck was not physically injured.

RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. Resources Road at Township Road 704A is now open. RCMP continue the investigation into the cause of this tragic event.

Grande Prairie Rural RCMP, along with Fire and Emergency Services, are currently on scene at Resources Road South of Township Road 704A, for a serious collision involving a pickup truck and a dump truck with trailer.

The driver of the pickup is confirmed deceased.

There is no through traffic at Resources Road and Township Road 704A.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and traffic interruption is anticipated to continue for several hours until the scene examination is completed.
