Nitehawk has launched a Landslide Recovery Fund in response to a natural disaster in May.

The landside struck May 19, impacting the Temptation run, the luge track and Showoff run. It was powerful enough to move the chairlift towers, which have large concrete foundations under them, down the hill.

Nitehawk is working to develop a long-term solution to stabilize the area and return it to full use by the 2021/22 winter season.

While some runs and the chair lift will be out for the season, use of the Platter Lift, the 100-foot Conveyor Lift and the 600-foot Conveyor Lift will permit skiing and snowboarding on the top of Showoff run, the Halfpipe, Willoway, and Bob's Bump runs, and the Terrain Park. The Aquatera Tube Zone, the Adventure Zone Toddler Play Area and the Aquatera Toddler Tube Lane will also be open.

This year there’ll be “cosmic tubing” - glow in the dark with laser lights. Nitehaw will so be revamping the terrain park and making sure it’s top notch for the season. A contractor will do two or three park builds throughout the season. Lesson programs will be running and corporate rentals available with COVID-19 measures in place.

As part of the Landslide Recovery Fund, they recently had a $10,000 50/50. The popular raffle sold out in 12 days. Nitehawk has another $20,000 50/50 running, with the winner taking home $10,000. Tickets are available HERE

Coming up on Sept. 26 is their Comedy Nite featuring two Canadian comedians. This will be a drive-in event at the Grande Sunset Theatre at Evergreen Park. Tickets are available on their website.

Jonathan Clarkson, General Manager of Nitehawk, says, “We’re gonna need the community support. This is probably one of the biggest challenges Nitehawk has seen in its 60 years of operation.

“I have no question – just from all the text messages, phone calls and Facebook messages that we’ve received that the community is there for us.”
