Residents and businesses are encouraged to provide input on the final draft of the South West (SW) Clairmont Area Structure Plan (ASP) by attending an open house on January 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Alliance Church in Clairmont.

According to Planning and Development Services Director Nick Lapp, those impacted by the ASP will be interested in attending this open house to ensure their voice is represented.

“The County will be presenting the final draft of the ASP at the event, so we really want to hear from anyone with questions or concerns as we draw closer to the end of the process,” said Lapp.

This plan will guide future development of land south of Highway 43 to Township Road 720, between Range Road 63 (116 Street) and Range Road 62 (108 Street). This section of land is envisioned primarily for residential development including both medium and low density. Areas for commercial development are proposed along the outside of the plan area, with some school sites proposed as well.

The open house marks the end of the second phase of the project. The third and final phase will involve finalizing the plan and presenting it to Council for Public Hearing and final decision.

Interested individuals are encouraged to stop by the open house, located at 15502 102 Street, Grande Prairie, to view the draft plan, ask questions and provide feedback. More information is available at countygp.ab.ca/SWClairmontASP.
