New this year, the County of Grande Prairie Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) department is offering summer camps for youth ages six to 12 in various communities throughout the months of July and August.

“The County is proud to offer day camp programs in our various communities,” said Lisa Watson, FCSS Child, Youth, Family and Community Team Lead. “Offering summer programs for children and youth in each of these communities not only provides fun and interactive summer activity options that are close to home, but it also supports their healthy social and emotional development.”

Each camp features outdoor activities (weather permitting), arts and crafts and fun games. Healthy morning and afternoon snacks are provided while campers are expected to bring a bagged lunch.

Council approved the addition of the summer camps this year in an effort to expand social programming and recreational activities available to families and youth in the County.

Youth summer camps will be taking place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

La Glace Twilight Centre from July 17-19
Bezanson Memorial Hall from July 31-August 2
Wellington Resource Centre in Clairmont from August 7-9
Rio Grande Community Hall from August 14-16
Teepee Creek School from August 21-23

The registration fee is $30/person. For more information and to register your child for a camp, visit www.countygp.ab.ca/summerprograms or call FCSS at 780-532-9727.
