The City of Grande Prairie is embarking on its largest capital construction year on record, with $54.5 million in budgeted improvements to roads, sidewalks, trails, storm lines, bridges, traffic signal repairs, recreation amenities, and more.

As the population of the City expands, fulfilling capital needs serves to enhance the quality of life of Grande Prairie residents through improvement of existing infrastructure and enhancing the community with new amenities and recreation opportunities for years to come.

The 2021 capital budget invests in Grande Prairie to maintain community assets, prepare for our future growth, and invest in services to ensure continual improvement for residents.

The projects funded by City Council reflect their desire to transform and sustain the City, bringing to life a progressive vision for the community.

To keep the community informed, the City is releasing monthly maps identifying the key capital projects occurring each month during the construction season. The maps will be circulated on the City’s social media channels and available for viewing on the City website

The map for the month of May includes the following projects:

  • Emergency Response & Activity Centre
  • North Bike Skills Park
  • Downtown Rehabilitation
  • Road Work, Sidewalk and Trail Construction

As the map is intended to highlight select projects, a detailed listing of all capital projects along with an interactive map and additional information is available to browse on the City website at cityofgp.com/construction2021
