The City of Grande Prairie has now centralized all park use permits into a single Outdoor Site and Park Use Permit in an effort to streamline services and improve the customer experience.

Previously, park use permits were location-based, but the new Outdoor Site and Park Use Permit provides a single permit that covers all locations including Muskoseepi Park, South Bear Creek Park (excluding the ball diamonds), Montrose Cultural Centre, downtown, the parking lots at Community Knowledge Campus and Revolution Place, and all of the 100+ parks across the city.

All City parks and outdoor spaces are available to book for events such as weddings, community events, walk/runs, festivals, rallies and more. Applying for an Outdoor Site and Park Use Permit ensures the area is ready for booked events with various City services, such as mowing, street sweeping, barricades, addition of garbage cans, etc.

The permit is free for non-profits and $50 for private businesses for all spaces with the exception of the Montrose Cultural Centre.

“Our goal with the centralization of this permit is really to make it easier for residents and community groups to make these bookings and secure their permits,” says Katie Biberdorf, Community Recreation Development Supervisor. “With this permit process, the City can ensure public spaces aren’t getting double-booked and have the opportunity to provide additional services to support community events, such as mowing or barricading,”

A permit is required for any event or activity taking place on City of Grande Prairie property including parks, streets or public parking lots. Certain activities or equipment may require additional permits and you will be notified after your application is received.
