Extreme fire behaviour on the Chuckegg Creek fire - Alberta Wildfire

"The Chuckegg Creek Fire experienced extreme fire behaviour yesterday due to continued hot, dry weather. The south part of the fire took a 10 km run towards Paddle Prairie, and the north part of the fire was active to the south of Watt Mountain. Resources are being mobilized to assess the situation around Paddle Prairie." (Wildfire Alberta).

The fire has now grown to 150,00 hectares. Firefighters are continuing to work hard to contain the blaze. Currently, the fire still remains away from High Level and no homes or businesses have been damaged.

"The weather forecast today will continue to bring hot temperatures and gusty, variable winds. This weather will result in further extreme fire behaviour on the north, west, and south parts of the fire. Established guard lines around priority areas continue to hold around the town of High Level. Aircraft will support firefighters on reinforcing guard lines today as they work to limit fire spread in critical areas. Heavy smoke conditions may limit the ability for aircraft to safely operate today due to visibility concerns." (Wildfire Alberta).

Firefighters remain on high alert, continuing to scan the area for new wildfires starting.
