Five Canadian artists have been nominated for a Juno in the category of Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year.

Brian Doerksen has been nominated for his album, "The Heart of Christmas". Grande Prairie was included in Brian's Heart of Christmas tour in December 2019. Brian Doerksen is a songwriter, recording artist, author, conference speaker and pastor, who currently leads worship at his church in Abbotsford, BC.

With his album, Brian wants to remind listeners that, "In the mess and magic of our ordinary lives, God is with all of us.

"Love is real and that love keeps moving hearts and changing lives. This is why all over the world we keep on singing songs of adoration to the One who came, born in the dust and dirt of humble, human circumstances to show us what God is really like."

Brooke Nicholls is a songwriter and worship leader at C4 Church in Ajax, ON. She is being nominated for her Album, "Pursue". Brooke was also in Grande Prairie this May of 2019.

For Brooke, this album is all about pushing ahead into the unknown. "The foundation of ‘Pursue’ is the underlying truth is that, in the same way God was faithful in guiding her in the past, she can rest assured that He will guide her in this next season too."

Singer/Songwriter Dan Bremnes from Salmon Arm, BC, has been nominated for his newest Album, "Wherever I Go." Dan came through town on his Wherever I Go tour in April 2019. In 2017, Dan and a couple of friends went on the "journey of a lifetime" and did a trip around the world in 8 days to film the music video for his song "Wherever I Go".

Winnipeg rap artist Fresh I.E. AKA Rob Wilson has been nominated for his 2019 album, "ILL Street Blues".

Fresh says, "The whole album is just talking about coming through some hard times in your personal life."

Each song looks at another chapter and struggles in his life, but the album also speaks about hope.

"I really want people to experience the album as a whole. If you listen to the album towards the end, it is bringing hope and solution to these hardships that people go through and ultimately it is a relationship and a covenant with Jesus Christ."

Although he now lives in the US, Matt Maher has his roots in Newfoundland. Matt has been nominated for his album, "The Advent of Christmas". In addition to the album, Matt also wrote his first children's book with the same title.

"Originally written to help pass on the faith to his own children, the book now gives parents and children everywhere a delightful, faith-filled resource to share during the countdown to Christmas." Amazon
