Farmers have been busy supporting everyone during COVID-19. A new campaign is hoping to return some of that support to farmers.

The Canadian Cattlemen's Association says it is working with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture on a campaign to raise public awareness about the support farmers need due to COVID-19.

Other participating groups include the Canadian Pork Council, seed and chemical company Syngenta, and fertilizer giant Nutrien.

Titled "Food for Thought,'' the campaign focuses on the rising cost of food, the number of jobs that agriculture employs, and how the future of the country is tied to Canada's ability to produce food.

The campaign encourages people to send a letter to their local Member of Parliament to demonstrate their support for farmers by encouraging the federal government to invest more in agriculture.
