The Neighbourhood Outdoor Rink Program has started up again for the season for residents to apply to build and maintain small skating rinks in their neighbourhoods.

The Neighbourhood Outdoor Rink Program is a free opportunity where the City of Grande Prairie provides approved applicants with the supplies to install and maintain small skating rinks in parks located near their homes.

To apply, residents must have a group of five committed volunteers to build and maintain the rinks and specify a location for installation. Parks Operations will provide training on rink installation and maintenance, and will complete monthly hazard assessments on each build.

The City recommends that all rinks be fully constructed before the ground freezes and there is significant snow on the ground, so interested residents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The last date to submit an application is December 15.
