Grande Prairie MLA Tracy Allard has invited area youth from grades 9-12 to an event to learn about her MLA Youth Council.

Allard shares about the council, "The purpose of the Youth Council is to engage youth in meaningful, non-partisan conversations while educating them about the various levels of government, role of an MLA and potential career paths in politics.

"Since being elected, the one group that I haven’t had much opportunity to hear from is our youth. I would like to hear their views and provide them a platform to debate issues that they see coming across their social media feeds. I want to hear their views!

"I would also use this opportunity to highlight and encourage students to participate in political opportunities such as the Provincial Page program, MLA For a Day, Encounters with Canadians and the many other programs that youth can be involved in to gain exposure to politics in Alberta and Canada."

Interested youth are asked to RSVP to grandeprairie@assembly.ab.ca if they would like to attend the informational event. The event will be in the Grande Prairie Public Library Rotary Community Room on Sunday, February 23 from 2 pm to 3 pm.
