COVID numbers have increased somewhat across Alberta and in the Peace Country.

As of August 8, 2021, there are 193 active COVID-19 cases in Grande Prairie and 39 cases in the County of Grande Prairie.

Alberta's active case count currently sits at 3,380, an increase of 661 since Friday.

Hospitalizations have also risen from 113 on Friday to 129 today (Aug. 9) with 26 people being treated in intensive care.

According to Dr. Deena Hinshaw, 74.8 per cent of the 103 people being treated in hospital outside of intensive care are unvaccinated, with 15.6 per cent being partially vaccinated.

Of the 26 in intensive care, 88.5 are unvaccinated and 3.8 are partially vaccinated according to Hinshaw.

Three additional deaths were reported, bringing the total to 2,328.

In regards to vaccinations, 76.4 per cent of eligible Albertans have received at least one dose, with 66.9 having been fully vaccinated.  In the City of Grande Prairie, 40.7 eligible citizens are fully vaccinated, while 40% of those 12+ have received two vaccinations in the County of Grande Prairie.
