Abdu Murray says that the next little while will be difficult, but he is grateful for the time he spent with Ravi Zacharias.

Abdu Murray, Vice President of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), is reflecting on the loss of "a gentleman" after Ravi Zacharias's Tuesday morning passing.

"It is a very emotionally-draining day," Murray says about the loss of his friend.

Murray says Zacharias was a very humble man, who appeared to be "embarrassed" by his fame but was glad to have the ability to "shine a light on Jesus" with people from around the globe.

"He never really wanted the limelight," Murray says. "He was grateful that he impacted lives."

Murray has been a witness to Zacharias's humility and is inspired by his ability to talk intelligently about the Gospel with anyone from cab drivers to world leaders.

"The Lord really used Ravi's abilities in so many amazing ways."

The Vice President describes Zacharias as passionate and faithful.

"He just cares about other people so much. When he heard the Gospel he could not wait to share it and he left no stone unturned in his search for truth so he could preach the Gospel with credibility."

For Murray, Zacharias was more than a preacher. Murray says that Zacharias himself was key to bringing Murray to the faith.

"I was driving through mid-Michigan on a Sunday morning," Murray starts. "As the (radio's) button was going through the station to station, I hear this Indian-accented voice talking about Jesus."

Muray was curious and continued to listen to the program, changing his life forever. That introduction to Christianity led Murray to begin his faith journey.

Zacharias, along with other Christian figures, inspired Murray to follow the faith, but it was the way Zacharias spoke about the faith drew Murray in.

"Over the course of some years as I was studying the faith, Ravi's teachings, Ravi's influence and the way he communicated with compassion and conviction really got me to see the credibility of the Gospel."

As Murray studied the faith, he aspired to speak about it with Zacharias's knowledge. Now as Vice President of RZIM, Murray continues to share the Gospel in a way that he hopes is similar to the way Zacharias preached with humanity and intellect.

"No one could ever fill Ravi's shoes," Murray says. "Ravi always looked beyond himself and he wanted to build a ministry of apologists and evangelists who would take the credibility of the Gospel to the world beyond his own life so that this ministry can continue until the Lord returns."

Zacharias, according to Murray, was a humble man who loved to speak about the Gospel and treated everyone with respect.

"He preaches that every human being is made in God's image and therefore valuable, and he actually lived it out," Murray says.

Over the next few days, Murray says he will be grieving but know that the RZIM team will remain strong.

"The ethos and passion that Ravi brought, with respect for people while uncompromising on the truth with be expressed by his team."

Murray says that he believes when Zacharias arrived in heaven, that God would be have been pleased to discuss the faith with Zacharias.
