The City of Grande Prairie is providing motorists and commuters with updates to traffic patterns starting Sunday, June 9, 2024. These changes are necessary to accommodate deep storm infrastructure installation.

Updated Traffic Impact:

Starting June 9, 2024, the following traffic pattern changes will be implemented:

  • Northbound traffic on 100 Street, south of 116 Avenue, will experience lane reductions.
  • Lane reductions will occur on 116 Avenue at 99 Street for east and westbound traffic.
  • Traffic between 100 Street and 102 Street on 116 Avenue will switch to two-way traffic on the westbound lanes early next week.

"We are making essential adjustments to traffic patterns to ensure the safe and efficient completion of the project,” said the City’s Capital Construction Supervisor, Mark Hoseasson. “We appreciate drivers taking extra care and being patient as we implement these changes.”

Variable message signs will be updated accordingly. Commuters are strongly urged to obey flaggers and all posted signs to navigate the area safely and efficiently. The City appreciates the community's cooperation as we continue to improve our roadway infrastructure for the safety and benefit of all residents and visitors.

Transit Impact:

These changes may cause delays in transit routes. Commuters are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly.
