BC Prosecution Services have approved charges following the death of a 22-year-old female on Monday, Feb. 8.

Shane Sutherland, 27, has been charged with second degree murder and has been remanded in custody and appeared in Fort St John Provincial Court Thursday, Feb. 11.. Sutherland remains in custody and will appear in court, via video on Monday, Mar. 1.

The investigation is ongoing and BC Coroner Services remains engaged. There is no further information at this time.

On Monday, Feb. 8 at 7:34 p.m., Fort St. John RCMP were called to a residence in the 8900 Block of 102 Ave.  

When police arrived on scene, a 22-year-old woman was found deceased. 

A 27-year-old man was arrested without incident at the scene and remains in police custody. All parties involved are known to each other and police believe there is no further risk to the public. 

This investigation is active and ongoing and there is no further information available at this time. BC Coroners Service is also investigating the death.
