Grande Prairie RCMP have charged a male and female with unauthorized possession of identity information following a traffic stop.

On Dec. 1 at 4:00 p.m., RCMP were conducting patrols in Clairmont when they located a vehicle parked at a gas station with two occupants. Further investigation revealed that the license plate was not registered to the vehicle and the driver and passenger had outstanding warrants.

The driver and passenger were subsequently arrested. During a search of the vehicle police seized stolen mail as well as a notebook and documents that contained several individuals’ personal information.

Daniel Campbell, 37, and Vanessa Jordan, 40, of Grande Prairie have been charged with 59 counts of unauthorized possession of identity information and two counts possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Campbell and Jordan are scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Dec. 21.

“This investigation resulted in the recovery of a considerable amount of identity information, that would have likely been used to commit further offences such as identity theft and fraud,” says Staff Sergeant Roy Kennedy NCO i/c Municipal Operations Grande Prairie RCMP Detachment.

“Grande Prairie RCMP encourage everyone to protect their personal information as it can be used to commit offences, especially in the online environment.”
