On Tuesday, May 23, a section of trail north of 68 Avenue on the west side of Bear Creek is closing for crews to safely carry out slope repair work.

Sections of the asphalt and temporary trail will be removed to do the work. These sections of trails are going to be repaved prior to the trail reopening.

Trail users can detour around the site by navigating the trail between 102 Street and Kateri Drive. Trail closure and detour signs are being placed on site before construction begins. The red line in the map below indicates the location of the trail closure.

Intermittent lane restrictions are occurring during construction on 68 Avenue westbound, west of the bridge to allow crews to access the site for the delivery of materials and equipment. Adjacent residents may hear noise during work.

"Ensuring the safety and quality of our trails is our top priority. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience caused by the closure, but it is necessary to carry out slope repair work,” said Capital Construction Supervisor, Mark Hoseasson. “Our dedicated crews will work efficiently to complete the repairs and repave the affected sections. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all trail users as we strive to enhance the trail experience for everyone."

The trail is anticipated to reopen in mid-July, weather dependent.

The City thanks everyone for their patience and cooperation during construction.
