American icon Tom Hanks holds back tears at the 2020 Golden Globes, stating he is "blessed" to have his family with him.

Hanks was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award on Sunday night at the Golden Globes. The award is given to those who have given "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment."

The actor acknowledges his family and their impact on him during his acceptance speech. 

Hanks also expresses gratitude to his wife during the ceremony. He says she is “a wife who is fantastic in every way." He also says she "taught (him) what love is."

This comes after Hanks admits playing Mr.Rogers in It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood strengthened his marriage. Hanks channels Mr. Rogers's practices of love, kindness, and respect after playing the Presbyterian minister.

Tom Hanks is known as "America's Dad" due to his classy disposition and desire to help complete strangers reunite with lost items. Tom Hanks has won over 50 awards over the course of his acting career.
