Grande Prairie RCMP have arrested three individuals and seized drugs, cash, and a firearm following a drug trafficking investigation. 

In November, Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit began an investigation into the sale of illicit drugs in Grande Prairie.  

On Dec. 16, the Crime Reduction Unit, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services and Grande Prairie RCMP General Duty, executed a search warrant at residence in the downtown area of Grande Prairie.  As a result, the following items were seized by police: 

  • 143.5 grams of Cocaine 
  • 85 grams of Crystal Meth 
  • 3.6 grams of Fentanyl 
  • 16 tablest of LSD 
  • 250 prescription pills of various types 
  • A loaded .22 Rifle 
  • 650 rounds of various types of ammunition 
  • 7 firearm magazines 
  • A TV projector stolen from Queen Elizabeth Hospital 
  • A stolen debit/credit machine 
  • $2,995 in Canadian currency 

Leonard Huyghebaert, 50, Carole Gaudet, 47, of Grande Prairie have both been charged with the following: 

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine 
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Crystal Meth 
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl 
  • Possession of a controlled substance – Crack Cocaine 
  • Careless use, storage and transportation of a firearm 
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle 
  • Possession of a firearm without a licence 
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public 
  • Two counts of possession of property under $5000 obtained by crime 
  • Possession of weapon while prohibited 

Huyghebaert has also been charged with two additional counts of possession of a weapon while prohibited. An additional 42-year-old male from Grande Prairie has also been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking x 3. He is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Feb. 10, 2021. Huyghebaert and Gaudet are scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Jan. 11, 2021.
